Job Summary

As the Data Migration Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL scripts and programs to extract, transform, and load data from Oracle data sources to API endpoints and directly into a SQL Server database.

Job Description

We are looking for an Data Migration Consultant for a 3-month+ contract opportunity that is fully remote . The Data Migration Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL scripts and programs to extract, transform, and load data from Oracle data sources to API endpoints and directly into a SQL Server database. This role involves creating, testing, troubleshooting, and executing the scripts for the launch of an application rewrite.

What You’ll Do

  • ETL Package Development: Create SSIS packages to extract data from the database according to specified criteria

  • Java Development: Use Java for ETL when warranted by data needs and constraints

  • Data Transformation: Apply necessary data transformations to ensure data is in the correct format for export

  • Load: Some data loading will be via API endpoints, others will be directly into SQL Server tables

  • Testing and Validation: Test the SSIS packages and Java programs to ensure they are extracting and transforming data correctly, work with the business analysts and the development team to resolve any issues

What You’ll Need

Required

  • Strong proficiency in ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica)

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java)

  • Experience with APIs

  • Understanding of data modeling and database design principles

  • Knowledge of data quality and validation techniques

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
