We’re looking for an amazing Environmental Air Programs Manager to fill this role, which is based in our Santa Clarita office. You’ll be responsible for supporting the Princess Cruises fleet and ensuring that specific portions of the Carnival Corporation and Princess Cruises Environmental Management System (EMS) are being adhered to, and that the vessels have the necessary policies, procedures, and information to be in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and permits, as well as the EMS as it relates to air emission management programs. You’ll develop, review, and explain the policies and procedures for the environmentally sound operation of Princess Cruises vessels pertaining to air emissions, fuel regulations and refrigerants. You’ll support all aspects of shipboard environmental air programs and initiatives on board the ships within the Princess Cruises fleet. Additionally, you’ll assist ships with external reporting for environmental incidents and coordinate, manage and compile reports and data for air emissions programs and related permits.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in preparation of appropriate environmental related permit applications, particularly related to air emissions and fuel consumption, and manage compliance with issued permits.

  • Maintain awareness of environmental incidents or noncompliance and provide support to Princess Cruises ships for the appropriate notifications internally, and externally to Flag, local, state, federal and international authorities, as required.

  • Provide the substantive policy and seasonal guidance needed for the shipboard Environmental Officers to carry out their environmental compliance and management responsibilities related to air emissions, fuel and refrigerant programs.

  • Support the improvement of the Carnival Corporation and Princess Cruises EMS, including relevant aspects of ISO 14001 certification; by participating in Environmental Working Group meetings, as needed; and by developing Objectives and Targets and managing these programs to ensure the goals are met.

  • Conduct ship visits to monitor environmental air compliance oversight, fuel and energy consumption, and refrigerant use programs.

  • Support and participate in environmental incident investigations, analysis, and associated reporting and follow up.

  • Manage and actively assist the preparation, scheduling, follow-up, and closure of findings associated with internal and external audits and examinations addressing air and environmental issues.

  • Review and assist leadership in understanding and maintaining cognizance of international, Flag state and Coastal State regulations regarding air emissions, fuel consumption and refrigerant gases, that are in effect, or will be coming into effect soon, including classification society related requirements.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with shipboard Environmental Officers, Technical Superintendents, and other Departments to support safe and compliant ship operations.

  • Review ship-developed environmental SeaEvent reports for accuracy and completeness; ensure adequate root cause analysis and appropriate preventive actions are documented.

  • Assist in environmental related training addressing air emissions, fuel standards, refrigerant gases, and associated reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in maritime, technical, or marine science field, or equivalent educational and training experience. Master’s Degree preferred. Accredited ISO 14001 (EMS) lead auditor training beneficial.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical, environmental, auditing or risk management fields.

  • Experience in the cruise industry, other maritime industry segment, or government agencies with maritime nexus desirable.

  • Experience operating maritime Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) preferred.

  • Underway experience in deck or engineering departments desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Familiarity with application of Class Society and Flag State rules desired. Project Management skills and experience desired.

  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing, database management and spreadsheets. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work weekends and after hours as needed to support the worldwide delivery of the EMS program.

  • Experience engaging with government regulatory agencies preferred.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

Please note that this position is considered In Office and will be required to follow the Company’s schedule of three days in the office per week (Tuesday – Thursday).

  • Base Salary Range: $84,300.00 to $113,800.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
