The Architecture, Strategy and Planning organization at Intel Labs plays a fundamental role in closely partnering with technology and business leaders across Intel to define, develop and lead the implementation of new strategic technologies, and drive cross-company and industry-shaping initiatives.

This is a role with significant cross-Intel impact and visibility and needs to be and be recognized as a can-do expert in computer system architecture by senior technical leaders across multiple organizations and respected by peers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive the cross-org SW-HW pathfinding and tech readiness actions across teams to initiate, direct and determine value of technology innovations at the intersection of application, software and hardware architecture, through POR and on a solid path to execution.

  • Lead result-oriented and disciplined Research and Development on new system level innovations spanning hw/sw interfaces for new architecture proposals, large-scale distributed computing, orchestration software, platform quality of service, and beyond.

  • Develop/influence/drive the HW-SW architecture co-design, strategy, roadmap and plans for high potential technologies which may cut across segments (e.g., in datacenter/cloud, network infrastructure and client)

  • Proactively identify ambiguities/opens and drive one-voice (go/no-go) on technology direction, and recommendations by working closely with senior technologists and stakeholders across multiple orgs, and external customers/partners. Kickoff/work through HW and SW teams to kickoff new innovations or PoCs.

  • Drive/Manage impactful technology forum(s) with x-Intel HW-SW experts Work with, and establish trust across a diverse array of stakeholders across software, Business Units and HW teams, and external customers and ecosystem partners.

An ideal candidate would exhibit the following behavioral traits that indicate:

  • Proven track record of collaborating with and influencing across broad set of stakeholders

  • Highly Technically savvy across broad spectrum of software and architecture with prior hands-on experience, technology details, and be comfortable driving discussions with other technologists and Business.

  • Deep familiarity with at least one or more of the following: operating system, system architecture, computer architecture, datacenter/cloud architecture and platforms, network platforms/architecture, programming languages.

  • Hands-on familiarity with software development, e.g., operating system/hypervisor internals, cloud technologies (like containers/Kubernetes/service mesh...), at-scale workload deployment, resource telemetry, performance analysis and optimization with heterogeneous computing

  • Excellent communication, written and presentation skills

  • The position requires a solid combination of technical expertise and strategic acumen, ability to work effectively across functional and organizational boundaries and the ability to communicate effectively across technical, customer and executive audiences.

  • The successful candidate is and will be perceived across multiple organizations as an action and results oriented leader with a passion for driving software-first architecture, technology direction and strategy.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum qualifications: The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 9+ years of experience -OR- a Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 6+ years of experience -OR- a PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 3+ years' of experience in:

  • 4+ years' experience with software development, e.g., operating system/hypervisor internals, cloud technologies (like containers/Kubernetes/service mesh...), at-scale workload deployment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Driving a technology/technical-strategy and plan agenda to fruition

  • Driving a technology agenda and/or cross-group strategic initiatives successfully

  • Participating in and shaping an industry standard, or driving convergence with multiple external partners

  • Creating and driving technology or solution roadmaps

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving technology directions and innovations into products

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Washington, California: $162,041.00-$259,425.00

*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
