Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

This is a senior position, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic components that will be integrated into the next generation of underwater acoustics systems. You will collaborate closely with other departments to transform concepts into fully functional designs, ensuring that all components meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex design and troubleshooting challenges.

  • Transform concepts into fully functional designs based on specification requirements, incorporating input from customers and collaborating with engineers across multiple disciplines.

  • Design analog and digital circuits to support acoustic navigation and location devices.

  • Design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for components like sensors, microcontrollers, power supplies, amplifiers, FPGAs, and communication interfaces.

  • Integrate FPGAs and other programmable devices into system designs.

  • Conduct design analysis and create circuit-level tests to validate designs, including thermal effects and power dissipation.

  • Develop or specify test methods and associated test equipment to verify board functionality.

  • Identify tasks related to ongoing projects and estimate the required resources, including labor, to achieve project objectives.

  • Prepare and present design reviews, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) activities, to ensure designs meet all specifications and customer requirements.

  • Experience with Altium or similar tools

  • Full life cycle development

  • Test development

  • Design and development of schematics and PCB layouts for components like sensors, microcontrollers, power supplies, amplifiers

  • Develop or specify test methods and associated test equipment to verify board functionality

  • SolidWorks

  • MATLAB

  • LabVIEW

  • RTL Code

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent collaboration skills

  • Ability to work well on a team

  • Experience in designing and developing underwater acoustics systems is a plus

Work Environment

The work environment is highly collaborative, requiring candidates to work well within a team. The location is just 5 minutes from the beach and downtown Santa Barbara, providing a beautiful and convenient setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $220000.00/yr.

Benefits include medical, dental and vision, life insurance, paid vacation and sick time, 3% 401K contribution (no matching required), company events.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Santa Barbara,CA.
