JOB TITLE: Senior DPS Software Engineer (Job Code: AK0923) JOB DETAILS: Design and analyze audio signal processing algorithms to function on resource-constrained hardware platforms based on the requirements set by broader acoustics and firmware engineering teams. Write scalable and tunable implementations of DSP algorithms in high-level languages like C, Python and Matlab, as well as low-level languages like fixed-point assembly. Tailor DSP algorithms to extract maximum performance based on the choice of platforms that support either floating-point or fixed-point arithmetic. Engineer solutions to deal with precision headroom issues commonly encountered while implementing audio processing solutions on fixed-point hardware platforms. Use knowledge of DSP techniques like correlation, pitch detection, frequency transforms, noise shaping and fundamentals of C programming to implement DSP features. Use a knowledge of Mathematics and DSP to optimize DSP algorithms. Analyze filter structures and related kernels to increase execution speed, save memory, and allow vectorized implementations of the DSP algorithms. Develop memory maps for DSP applications, making decisions related to the associated trade-offs between the execution speed and memory required by the C implementation. Identify and utilize hardware capabilities to optimize runtime software performance. Plan work to deliver software features, informed by an understanding of the underlying hardware and its interconnections. Profile algorithm implementations with the help of tools available in the development environments for the platforms. Additionally, develop methods to extract detailed information on the resource consumption to support other hardware teams in making decisions around power management. Aid the QA teams by developing stimulus signals and test cases to test and debug at integration and validation levels. May work from home. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field plus 2 years of experience in the offered position or related position. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be "quantified" by "time". Required expertise/knowledge includes: Understanding of signal processing fundamentals. Experience in designing, implementing, and testing algorithms to solve technical challenges in audio processing. Software design experience in coding for both fixed-point and floating-point DSP platforms. Knowledge of C compilers with programming experience in fixed-point assembly, C, Python and Matlab. Experience profiling, optimizing, tuning, and debugging embedded DSPs to achieve MIPS and memory targets for low power target platforms. Experience articulating technical concepts in cross-functional teams. Experience with version control systems like Git.
