The senior level Sr. Buyer Plannerwill play a critical role in the procurement and planning of electronic components to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability. With a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, Iteris is dedicated to supporting the transportation sector, reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, this role requires strategic and detailed-oriented professional who can handle supplier relationships, optimize inventory, and drive cost-effective purchasing strategies in alignment with the organizations goals.

What you will be doing:

  • Create and manage the master production schedule (MPS) to conform to planned revenue, capacity levels, as well as planned monthly shipping goals

  • Purchase of direct materials and equipment to meet the needs of our Customers

  • Release of materials from blanket orders to support manufacturing schedules

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable outcomes for Iteris

  • Plan, control, and prepare the final assembly schedule (FAS) based on backlog and actual bookings

  • Support Supply Management goals for inventory levels, cycle times and turns while maintaining adequate inventory to satisfy customer demands

  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, Sales/Marketing, Shipping and Receiving and QA to ensure best practices of material and information flow throughout supply chain

  • Evaluate MRP results and manage MRP exception messages in a manner that support the production schedule and customer needs

  • Release, track, process and close planned orders

  • Place material requisitions and purchase orders as required to support manufacturing production plans

  • Analyze and control inventory in accordance with inventory policies and within inventory turnover targets

  • Work on continuously improving product lead-time, on-time delivery, reducing WIP inventory, reducing finished goods and raw material inventory

  • Review and maintain master data attributes such as lead-time, procurement types, planning strategies, MRP types, lot size, safety stock, and planner/buyer/scheduler codes to ensure that MRP suggestions are based on accurate data

  • Assist with and perform cycle counts and develop countermeasures for any deficiencies

  • Understand and reduce work order variances, especially those related to materials, and work with the cross-functional team to reduce and eliminate variances

  • Work with the cross-functional team and management to continuously improve inventory controls, scheduling strategies, and ordering policies to drive optimal inventory levels

  • Support annual productivity improvements in the form of cost reductions and other objectives of the Purchasing Department

  • Proactively drive supplier related issues to closure

  • Monitor supplier performance, prepare and submit forecasts, and ensure the facility has all materials necessary to operate efficiently

  • Schedule and expedite deliveries as required to meet customer demands. Identify problem areas that impact delivery and quality performance and initiate corrective actions

  • Maintain mutually beneficial long-term relationships with assigned suppliers in an effort to foster continuous improvement and feedback. This includes following the Company’s Service’s Code of Business Conduct

  • Ensure prompt disposition of SCAR’s to minimize impact to the production schedule

  • Coordinate ECO activity within the supply chain and the implementation of changes

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of assigned Company products and processes to complete all assigned responsibilities in a satisfactory manner

  • Comply with and support company policies and procedures and Quality systems

  • Participate actively in Lean activities

  • Develop and maintain ownership for customer satisfaction by demonstrating ownership for resolving supply chain delivery issues, obtaining answers, communicating customer requirements fully, and meeting customer request dates

    What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Over five years of purchasing/planning experience in electronic and/or electro-mechanical manufacturing

  • APICS Certification a plus

  • Requires knowledge and understanding of ERP systems

  • Oracle Fusion ERP experience is preferred

  • Focus on Production Planning is preferred

  • Must be able to work in a cross-functional environment

  • Able to manage several tasks simultaneously

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Organizational, listening, and problem-solving skills

  • Mathematics and analytic skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

  • Leadership skills and traits

  • Technology literate

    Iteris anticipates paying between $97,500 and $108,600 for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
