About Astellas Gene Therapies

Astellas Gene Therapies is an Astellas Center of Excellence developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines, as well as our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Astellas Center of Excellence for their newly created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. We are currently exploring three gene therapy modalities: gene replacement, exon skipping gene therapy, and vectorized RNA knockdown, with plans to expand our focus and geographic reach under Astellas. The Role:

The primary purpose of the Analyst BioPharma Mfg. Business Operations Lead includes, yet is not limited to, overseeing procurement, budgeting, and expense forecasting for Astellas’ Sanford Gene Therapy manufacturing facility. The role will oversee site spending and ensure business related expenses are within compliance regarding Astellas Pharma policies and system governing procedures .

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working directly with divisional finance and global business system leads to ensure annual spending and associated finance practices are accurate, up to date, and within compliance.

  • Develops cost models for all production assets, asset purchases, and inventory management to be used in decision making, strategic analysis, and long-range planning.

  • Manages site capital requests, working with finance support groups to generate accounting codes, assign depreciation categories, and track project completion.

  • Responsible for developing and reporting financial metrics to monitor plant performance and measure productivity.

  • Defines and manages cost allocation methods used in product asset cost reporting, production planning, budget forecasting, and program valuations.

  • Collaboratively partners with site leadership staff, BioPharma Manufacturing Finance Lead, Global Business System Lead, and BioPharma Manufacturing HR Business Lead to maintain financial alignment and compliance across the SFD-TC site.

  • As appropriate, will join cross-functional project teams with US/International Program Heads and finance partners to support broader T&M/Biopharma Manufacturing initiatives.

  • Delivers high-level report updates to site SLT and broader forums as required.

  • Supports site leadership with annual goal setting and budgetary planning activities targeting facility sustainable margin optimization related to cost of goods and/or other sustainable margin targets.

Quantitative Dimensions:

The role of Analyst BioPharma Mfg. Business Operations Lead will monitor business expense activities within Astellas Gene Therapies BioPharma manufacturing division located in Sanford, TC. This role will interact with site leadership and Astellas stake holders to ensure facility is in within compliance, meeting annual goals, and implementing effective finance objectives where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, with emphasis or concentration in financial platforms.

  • 7+ years of finance combined experience within a technology sector.

  • Working knowledge of cGMPs.

  • Proven track record delivering highly impactful results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree with emphasis on life sciences, purchasing, supply chain, and/or pharmaceutical business.

  • Experience supporting biomanufacturing operations (drug substance / drug product.)

  • Experience with Oracle and SAP financial allocation and reporting systems.

  • Experience in a fast-paced company with high growth potential.

Working Conditions:

This role is classified as Hybrid requiring 5-10% travel across BioPharma Manufacturing facilities. As with all roles, this is subject to change based on critical business requirements.
