Xylem is looking for a Diesel Field Service Technician to report to our Sanford, FL location and service our equipment both on-site and at customer sites in the surrounding area.

What your day will look like as a Diesel Field Service Technician:

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our diesel and gas engine powered pumps, and their corresponding electrical and mechanical components, both on-site and at various customer sites throughout FL. Equipment phone support will also be a part of the Field Service Technician's role. Equipment specific training will be provided, but applicants with previous experience working on diesel or gas powered engines are especially encouraged to apply.

This position has general day shift hours with overtime opportunities and a compensated on-call rotation with occasional afternoons/weekends.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities for Diesel Field Service Technicians:

• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and pump end issues and repair/rebuild as necessary using computerized diagnostic tools.

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and service various products as directed. Diagnose and report any damage to the Manager.

• Create an accurate and legible parts and repair list, manually or digitally, for assigned product. Review list of parts with Manager and obtain approval to continue with servicing and repair.

• Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.

• Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment as directed (air dryer, chain saws, lifts, etc.).

• Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed. Assist in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.

• Train new service or other shop personnel and customers, as needed, in service and/or other related standard work.

• Maintain a safe work environment by following EHS&S guidelines, policies and best practices.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements for Diesel Field Service Technicians:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• A valid driver’s license in good standing.

• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, MVR check, and DOT physical.

• Experience with Tier 4 diesel engine repairs and maintenance preferred

• Medium voltage experience a plus (4160V)

• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues

• 3+ years working knowledge and experience with diesel engine repairs and emission control systems

• Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance

• Advanced knowledge of DC electric and circuit testing skills

• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed

• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools and lifting equipment

• Familiarity with engine diagnostic tools

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 50% or more daily travel- home daily.
