Insight Global Account Director in San Rafael, California

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Account Director for an event agency client. The Account Director serves as the primary client contact for both existing and new accounts. This role involves identifying client event needs, building and maintaining relationships, and executing specific account strategies. The Account Director collaborates closely with all departments, from sales management to event execution, and is a key figure in mentoring and guiding teams towards customer success. This position exemplifies leadership, methodology, and effective communication both internally and externally.

Client Liaison: Act as the primary liaison for account clients.

Relationship Building: Work with the account owner to build strong relationships with key contacts.

Business Planning: Collaborate with the Owner, General

Manager, and Director of Account Services to create a business plan for gaining market share within existing accounts.

Identify Opportunities: Discover new business opportunities within existing accounts.

Program Development: Work with other Account Directors on program scope and development.

Program Execution: Oversee the development and execution of program operations within assigned accounts.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the overall quality of accounts and the success of events.

RFP Management: Provide necessary pre-sale information to Strategic Sourcing.

Salesforce Updates: Keep Salesforce updated with all event activity.

Business Briefs: Maintain business brief documents for each account, including organizational structure, executive leadership, company revenue, business structure, competitors, event landscape, and client team structure.

Contract Management: Maintain account contract terms and rate cards annually.

Business Reselling: Resell business year to year.

Client Contracts: Manage and maintain client contracts, including LOCs, SOWs, and MSAs.

Strategic Sourcing Support: Assist with program costing, planning, and development.

Program Budgeting: Manage the program budget for all programs on the account.

Financial Tracking: Issue preliminary payment schedules, good faith client invoicing, and track financials throughout the event lifecycle.

Consultative Strategy: Provide strategic guidance, including:

Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews

Competitive Landscape Analysis

Event Roadmap and Staffing Structure

Industry Trends

Customer-focused Communications

Identifying moments of care for customers

Proactive Sourcing and Planning

Third-Party Vendor Reviews

Mentorship: Mentor and guide all employees assigned to the account.

Innovation: Introduce new ideas and improved processes to streamline operations and enhance client experience.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors degree.

Minimum 5+ years of Corporate event management.

Expert level understanding of event management scope and ability to lead planning process.

At least 3 years of account management, ideally in an agency setting (Opus, Jack Morton, GPJ, Maritz, etc.)

Experience in account sales, consulting and development role.

Exceptional negotiation and budget management skills. null
