Master’s degree OR bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with research or program evaluation related work.
Demonstrate prior experience developing data collection instruments for social sciences.
Demonstrate prior experience with Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis.
Demonstrate prior experience developing reports from data sets.
Demonstrate prior experience in designing, programming, and managing surveys with Qualtrics.
Demonstrate prior experience in technical, academic, public policy, and/or grant and legislative report writing.
Demonstrate experience applying data analysis techniques and using data analysis software.
Demonstrate prior experience designing and applying social science research methodologies.
Demonstrate experience managing multiple project timelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly attentive to detail and organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrate prior experience in designing and programming assessments and evaluations in Qualtrics.
Demonstrate prior experience with advanced data analysis tools (ex., Excel Power Query and Pivot Tables).
Demonstrate prior experience with advanced data analysis software (ex., SPSS ).
Demonstrate prior experience with ArcGIS software.
Demonstrate prior experience conducting social science research with populations in educational environments.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Texas Education Code.
Demonstrate prior experience with client relationship management.
Demonstrate experience presenting at conferences.
Job Description
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation.
The TxSSC welcomes highly qualified candidates to apply for the Evaluation Analyst position in the Research and Evaluation (R&E) Division.The responsibilities of this position focus on program evaluation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing data, conducting analysis, and developing internal and external templates and reports related to the evaluation of training program deliverables and outcomes. The R&E Division is currently involved in program evaluation of initiatives and trainings related to school behavioral threat assessment, youth tobacco and substance use prevention, school-based law enforcement, and other school safety topics.
The successful candidate will expand the capabilities of the TxSSC and have the unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative team who support each other in project conceptualization, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of research and evaluation findings to various stakeholder groups. All research and evaluation efforts aim to ensure that schools and communities across Texas are safe, secure, and healthy learning environments.
Job Duties
Assist in expanding and improving program evaluation of state-wide training and events.
Manage data collected from statewide surveys and TxSSC training and events.
Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data.
Conduct event and yearly assessment of programs and activities.
Develop reports, scholarly articles, and other research related publications.
Disseminate information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
Develop templates, guides, and toolkits in support of Texas school districts.
Conduct systematic literature reviews on topics related to school safety, security, and health.
Design appropriate methodologies to address topics related to school safety, security, and health.
Design and administer data collection procedures including surveys, focus group and interview protocols, as well as other appropriate data collection procedures.
Ensure high attention to detail and organization with projects.
Provide technical support to school stakeholders and internal staff in a professional manner.
Proactively solve problems while demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm.
Perform other duties as assigned.
