Position Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (https://www.txst.edu/chemistry.html) at Texas State University seeks an Assistant Professor in Biochemistry or Chemistry to support a new doctoral program in Integrated Molecular and Biophysical Chemistry ( IMBC ). In addition to this new PhD program that focuses on training students for careers in industry and includes a strong commercialization component, the Department also offers terminal MS programs in Biochemistry and Chemistry as well as ACS -certified BS degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program. The candidate must also be dedicated to teaching and mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary, startup package, and laboratory space with access to shared common-use equipment within the Department.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in biochemistry, chemistry, structural biology, or a related field is required.

  • Relevant postdoctoral, industrial, or equivalent research experience.

  • A strong publication record.

  • Potential to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program.

  • Ability to integrate teaching and research efforts with the newly launched Integrated Molecular and Biophysical Chemistry PhD program at Texas State.

  • Ability to mentor PhD and MS graduate students as well as undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry research students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research in structural biology, biophysics, or related areas.

  • Relevant industry and/or commercialization experience.
