Position Description

TheDepartment of Chemistry and Biochemistry (https://www.txst.edu/chemistry/About-the-Department.html) at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank for Fall 2025.

Candidates with research interests in any area of chemistry or biochemistry are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded, nationally-recognized research program in chemistry or biochemistry that aligns with one or both of ourMaterials Science, Engineering and Commercialization (https://www.msec.txst.edu/) orIntegrated Molecular and Biophysical Chemistry (https://www.gradcollege.txst.edu/programs/imbc-phd.html) PhD programs.

The candidate must also be dedicated to the teaching and mentoring of students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field prior to employment.

  • Relevant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.

  • A strong publication record. Assessment will focus on recent publications.

  • Potential to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program that aligns with one or both of ourMaterials Science, Engineering and Commercialization (https://www.msec.txst.edu/) orIntegrated Molecular and Biophysical Chemistry (https://www.gradcollege.txst.edu/programs/imbc-phd.html) PhD programs

  • Ability to teach chemistry or biochemistry undergraduate and graduate courses.

  • Ability to mentor chemistry or biochemistry undergraduate and graduate research students.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of research expertise in polymer/soft materials, or in other areas that complement the department.
