Liberty Latin America Tax Specialist in San Juan, Puerto Rico

What´s the role?

As a Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for the tax reporting, tax compliance and tax accounting functions in accordance with local, federal, and international tax laws, regulations, and accounting guidance applicable to the Company.

How can you add value?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Assist in the preparation of income tax returns within the PR, USVI and US tax authorities while ensuring compliance with applicable local tax regulations and in the tax accounting and reporting of all Liberty legal entities.

  • Research and resolve tax related debts, discrepancies, or inquiries with the correspondent local governmental agencies and with technical tax matter research to provide solution-focused responses to issues.

  • Provide support to team members on other taxes and/or regulations applicable to the industry, as needed.

  • Prepare the telecommunication informative returns.

  • Government and administrative data gathering, calculations and filings related to federal and local tax compliance and audits, upon request.

  • Keep an update inventory of tax related certifications and documentation that are regularly required by our internal customers.

  • Collaborate with internal compliance initiatives and actively promote employee compliance education.

  • Contribute to the development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Demonstrate and ensure compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.

  • Other functions may be assigned.

What do you need?

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Taxes, Business Administration or Legal required.

3-5 years of experience in tax accounting and compliance or tax law.

Other Qualifications:

  • Strong ability and inclination to collaborate with co-workers.

  • Technical, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment with efficient prioritization, client interaction, responsiveness and focus (especially during periods of sustained pressure and often under tight deadlines).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build links with staff, external partners and suppliers.

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.

  • Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office).

  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English).
