Liberty Latin America Senior Manager, People Business Partner in San Juan, Puerto Rico

What´s the role?

As the Senior Manager, People Business Partner you will serve as a strategic partner to business leaders and guide the execution of HR programs to central teams in Latin America. Also, carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

How can you add value?

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners within the client group, to identify and respond to current and future people related requirements.

  • Support the global delivery of HR initiatives, identifying and managing opportunities in their client group and working more widely across Liberty Latin America to support the achievement of strategic goals.

  • Manage employee relations issues with awareness of employment laws that are aligned to different countries. Assist as intermediary with local People team.

  • Mentor and build the capability of assigned function managers and supervisors to proactively work organizational issues.

  • Proactively share standard methodologies, intelligence, and continuous improvement strategies within the client group.

  • Review and recommend salary adjustments and job offer letters as requested by country in alignment with compensation philosophy.

  • Work with People VP on employee performance, employee conduct and general employee relations issues, to guarantee adherence with Company policies and procedures.

  • Implement People programs by providing human resources services, including staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits advice, training and development, records management, safety and health, organization planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations, completing personnel transactions.

  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.

  • Effectively communicate with management to provide direction and mentorship on employee issues including disciplinary actions, conduct, terminations and other HR related issues or strategies.

  • Under the direction of the People VP, conducts internal investigations; works with management and Legal to facilitate investigations and participate when necessary.

  • Gather background information and prepares formal disciplinary actions. Ensure official cases are properly maintained with complete documentation to support proposed or final actions. Researches and provides documentation in response to inquiries as required.

  • Follow with all applicable legal and regulatory guidelines (e.g., EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, etc.) to the assigned function.

  • Conduct employee exit interviews and disseminates information as appropriate.

  • Ensure appropriate postings of all Federal, State, and local employment laws are current at all locations, audits document retention and destruction as appropriate for all People documentation.

  • Audit and review that all documentation received in People, such as employee’s licenses accident/incident, OSHA forms are properly completed.

  • Complete various projects specified to support the department. This may entail conducting research and analysis; designing forms, processes, and communication; providing specific reporting; and creating detailed documentation of processes.

  • People support to include processing status changes, accident/incident report, terminations, and layoffs.

  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.

  • Demonstrate and ensure compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty Latin America policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.

  • Other functions may be assigned.

What do you need?

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources. Master’s degree preferred.

At least of 8-10 years of progressive HR People experience.

PHR, SHRM-CP Certification is a plus.

Other Qualifications:

  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English).

  • Ability to travel to multiple job locations. Willing to travel outside of country.

  • Working knowledge of HR administrative requirements pertaining to OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, EEO, ADA, Unemployment, and Workers' Compensation.

  • Familiarity of federal, state, and local laws and regulations that impact human resources and the employment relationship.

  • Ability to properly maintain confidential or sensitive information.

  • Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.

  • Solid problem-solving and discernment skills.

  • Ability to organize and direct a project to completion utilizing given tools, resources, and deadlines.

  • Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff, including executives.

  • High level computer expertise, including use of database, word processing, spreadsheet (Excel), and presentation applications.

  • Excellent analytical skills, resourcefulness, and strong organization skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
