Job Duties:

Align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges.

Finish and dress joints, removing excess grout with a damp sponge.

Cut and shape tiles to fit around obstacles and odd spaces using hand and power cutting tools.

Determine and implement optimal layouts to achieve desired patterns.

Mix, apply, and spread adhesives such as plaster, mortar, cement, and mastic using brushes, trowels, and screeds.

Study blueprints and examine surfaces to estimate material requirements.

Measure and mark surfaces following blueprints for accuracy.

Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative designs for walls, murals, and floors.

Apply mortar to the back of tiles, position tiles, and tap or press to affix them.

Seal grout to make it stain- and water-resistant.

Level concrete and allow it to dry before tile installation.

Measure and cut metal lath to fit walls and ceilings, using tin snips.

Install and anchor fixtures like bathroom accessories and cabinets using hand tools.

Prepare surfaces for tiling by attaching lath or waterproof paper, or applying cement mortar coats to metal screens.

Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, grout, and adhesive.

Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite or pre-cast terrazzo units.

Spread adhesive base on roof decks for promenade tile installation using serrated spreaders.

Assist customers in selecting tiles, grout, and other materials.

Prepare labor and cost estimates based on calculations of time and materials.

Create custom tile designs by arranging tiles on manila paper and positioning them on surfaces.

Order tiles and related materials according to specifications.

Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets as needed.

Job Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum 24 months of experience in tile and stone setting.

Training:

Completion of a tile and marble setting program at a community college or equivalent.

Skills:

Proficiency in using tools and software such as EasyCAD Iris 2D, TileGem, Measure Square FloorEstimate Pro, Aya Associates Comp-U-Floor, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Ability to follow blueprints and technical drawings.

Precision in measuring and cutting materials for installation.

Languages:

Fluency in Russian and Ukrainian is required to effectively communicate with the employer's client base, which includes a significant proportion of Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking customers. The ability to speak these languages ensures accurate understanding of customer needs, project specifications, and safety instructions, thereby facilitating high-quality service delivery and adherence to safety standards.

Wage Information:

Prevailing Wage: $78,000 annually
