My client is a leading real estate firm specializing in leveraging private equity into ground-up development projects and income-producing properties. Their fund portfolio includes tax-advantaged Opportunity Zone funds, a traditional real estate private equity fund, and a Statutory Trust fund.

The Role

The Tax Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting activities related to the company's investment funds and corporate entities, ensuring accounting procedures comply with company goals and policies to legally minimize audit risks.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position involves collaborating closely with my client's executives and associates to manage tax deliverables and accounting practices, thereby streamlining operations across their entities, projects, and properties. Utilizing expertise in public accounting and corporate taxation, the Tax Accounting Manager will support my client's growth objectives while working with third-party vendors, the administrative team, and the Real Estate Development and Property Management/Asset Management teams.

What You'll Do

• Conduct monthly reviews of trial balances and financial statements to identify inconsistencies and opportunities for revenue enhancement or cost reduction.

• Verify financial records for accuracy and completeness.

• Perform monthly reviews of account reconciliations and related party transactions.

• Address financial inquiries by collecting and analyzing relevant data.

• Leverage various technologies to create and develop valuable KPI reports for the quarterly partners' reporting package.

• Collaborate with internal and external teams to fulfill their accounting and reporting requirements, providing essential financial data for business decisions.

• Oversee daily audit-related processes and deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate completion of interim and annual financial audits.

• Assist in the development and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures.

• Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

• Keep informed about industry trends and market information that could present business opportunities or risks.

• Support accounting and reporting automation projects using NetSuite.

• Aid in the preparation of tax returns and estimates as needed.

  Requirements

Key requirements

• 3-5+ years of tax accounting experience, preferably with real estate partnership/flow-through entity experience; open to considering experience in PE/VC/HF or other partnership tax environments.

• Knowledge of the asset management industry.

• Some experience with or an interest in managing both book accounting and tax.

• CPA or progress towards it.
