As a Program Director and acting Platform Manager, you will be key to delivering Stryker’s best-in-class visualization products to market in the most efficient and profitable way possible – unlocking resource synergies, fostering collaboration and engaged teams, and crafting our program/project strategies to align with our business’ needs. A platform-approach provides next generation product development acceleration, reduced development time, risks and costs. You will be responsible for crafting and executing a well thought out product platform implementation strategy to enable fast product iterations, strategically designed regulatory roadmaps, maximum resource utilization, and agility in rapidly changing market conditions. As a Platform Manager, you will play a hands-on role in planning and executing a portfolio of projects. Multiple projects/workstreams will exist within your program and you will be responsible for making sure those projects collectively meet our objectives. This includes building an engaged platform team, managing the tradeoffs and interdependencies, managing stakeholders and risk, and identifying and fixing any gaps between projects.

Platform Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and integration of program strategies which may cross several NPD disciplines and business units; evaluate alternatives to meet business needs

  • In collaboration with the team’s inputs and your knowledge of the business and product portfolio, select strategies based on appropriate level of risk and understanding of full range of implications across the platform

  • Demonstrate Program Management expertise and talent at a level where you can coach and guide experienced project leaders – these project managers naturally seek you out for guidance

  • Create shared vision for the platform, inspire and build momentum towards platform goals; be a champion of platform team engagement and culture

  • Define scope of work, provide visibility to constraints & assumptions, and lead program-level planning with project managers and closely monitor program risks, budget, schedule and performance

  • Prioritize and support the work of multiple projects; serve as first escalation for project managers

  • Advocate for the program team and ensure that the platform is resourced (people and budget) to meet program goals

  • Engage and manage platform stakeholders ensuring alignment and visibility to platform progress, challenges, and risks

  • In partnership with project managers, manage and forecast all project expenditures and cost tracking for platform; identify cost savings opportunities and synergies across projects

Qualifications

  • B.S. in engineering or scientific field required; MS and/or MBA preferred

  • 10+ years of successful demonstrated project management experience

  • Successful track record in the development, commercialization and sustainment of products

  • Medical Device and Design Controls experience preferred

  • Must have a history of leading through ambiguity and being trusted to make critical business decisions with relevant but not necessarily complete information

  • Must be able to develop relationships with a variety of groups, understand product functionality, and deliver outcomes that serve the business and maximize return-on-investment

  • Commitment to excellence and high standards with acute attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently with high accountability and integrity

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills

  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization; savvy at stakeholder management

  • Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when confronted with politically contentious situations, stays calm under pressure and has great conflict resolution skills

  • Shows care and concern about team members, regardless of background, and creates an inclusive team environment for team members with different cultural backgrounds

  • Ability to bring together multiple functions (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, etc.) as a cohesive team and lead technical discussions

  • Strong organizational, change management, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Growth mindset, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

  • Keeps the customer at the heart of what we do

  • Basic PC skills and proficient on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)

$189,000 - $321,000 salary plus bonus eligible + generally eligible for short-term and long-term financial incentives + benefits.  Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location.  Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
