About the team
The Product Engineering team is a small group of seven engineers responsible for deploying new products and sustaining existing ones at the factory. We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and suppliers, to ensure seamless product development and manufacturing. Product Engineers are involved in every stage of the product lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to End of Service (EOS). This position reports directly to the Product Engineering Manager and requires on-site presence.
Your Role
Component Qualification & Specification Development: Lead the qualification of critical components such as NICs, DIMMs, and GPUs. Develop comprehensive internal and external specifications based on product, engineering, factory test, and quality requirements.
Supplier and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with suppliers and internal teams including test, quality, and hardware engineering to ensure successful component qualifications and conduct thorough failure analysis.
Manufacturing Readiness: Transfer critical product information to contract manufacturers, ensuring production readiness and alignment with operational requirements.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action: Identify and analyze yield detractors observed in the factory and field, driving timely corrective actions to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Process Improvement & Documentation: Develop, enhance, and document various processes to drive operational efficiency and ensure standardized workflows.
Engineering Change Management: Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), actively participate in Change Control Board (CCB), and maintain accurate product Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Product Reliability & Serviceability Improvements: Make data-driven recommendations to enhance product reliability. Collaborate cross-functionally to incorporate reliability and serviceability considerations into the design process.
Technical Issue Resolution: Provide expert technical guidance for resolving issues originating from customer feedback, field failures, and factory operations. Partner with supplier quality teams to implement corrective actions and long-term improvements.
What You’ll Bring
Technical Expertise: Strong background in storage/server products and systems with the ability to distinguish between factory process, factory test, hardware, and software product issues. Proficient in using and interpreting results from tools such as iperf, memtest, and SMART attributes for drives.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical issues simply and effectively to management and influence decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work with diverse teams, including product marketing, hardware, software, quality, test engineering, manufacturing, service, and product compliance, to meet NPI objectives and drive DFx reviews for manufacturing excellence.
Problem-Solving & Analysis: Capable of first-level triage for factory-related product issues and supplier component failure analysis. Skilled in debugging hardware, firmware, software, and system configuration challenges.
Design for Excellence (DFx): Experience in implementing DFx principles to ensure optimized manufacturing, testing, and fault detection using FMEA strategies throughout the product
Operational Support: Experience supporting manufacturing facilities and ensuring transfer readiness from CM/JDM/ODM partners. Capable of driving process improvements and supporting design or process modifications based on field issues and factory quality data.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $97,120 and USD $192,960 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
