Azure Resource Graph (ARG) is an index/inventory/catalog of cloud resources and is a core service enabling @scale experiences like Azure Portal, Azure Search, Azure Catalog. As a Principal Software Engineer - Azure Resource Graph on the Azure Core team, you will be partnering closely with other engineers and partners to design and build features in control plane notification pipeline. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work on designing, coding, validating, shipping, and running high scale services. You will have the opportunity to use your technical experience to shape the product and its customer experience. We are looking for distributed systems and API (Application Programming Interface) proficiency with a passion for user-facing features and experience working on always available, mission critical systems. You will be responsible for building mission critical, large scale distributed systems handling billions of resources per day.

Responsibilities
Providing technical leadership, raising the technical bar, maintain data and results-driven culture, nurture a team culture of high collaboration and trust.
Collaborate across Azure to develop platforms that help deliver insights and automation to simplify the complex world of managing planetary scale.
Create clarity and direction in ambiguous problem spaces.
Write exemplary code working with large scale distributed systems with quality, simplicity, and maintainability as core tenets.
Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning.
Be a role model for open, honest, and inclusive approach to problem solving.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C++, C# or Java
OR equivalent experience.
5+ years of experiences with deep hands-on working knowledge of building true cloud-scale services.
4+ year of experiences in one of the object-oriented programming languages including runtime internals like C++, C#, Java, etc.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional/Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, or Java
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C# or Java
OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
