Uber Sr Software Engineer, Fares Platform in San Francisco, California

About the Role

As part of the Fares Platform team, you will work to build a common platform for all of Uber's Mobility and Delivery Fares systems. You'll work closely with Product and other Engineering teams to scale Fares Platform. This role requires working on backend systems which handle large volumes of requests and need to make decisions within milliseconds. A passion for low latency, scalability and resilient systems is critical for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Build a common and maintainable platform for all Uber's Fares systems

  • Work with Product and other engineering teams to add new features and scale the platform

  • Lead and mentor other engineers on the team

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • Engineering experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture

  • Experience working on scalable backend systems utilizing a microservices architecture

  • High bar for quality as demonstrated by code reviews, documentation, unit and integration testing

  • Background in payments/fintech engineering

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
