Google Senior Program Manager, Strategic Energy Communications and Engagement in San Francisco, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.

  • Experience working with technical energy and climate experts.

  • Experience developing and executing communications and engagement strategy.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional role within corporate PR and technical teams.

  • Experience with writing, multimedia content development, and public engagement, as well as program managing strategic campaigns, internal systems, and teams.

  • Experience developing and executing communications and engagement strategy, including sourcing and pitching speaking role opportunities, and developing talking points and visual materials.

  • Experience/knowledge with corporate sustainability and corporate communications.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As a Senior Program Manager on the Clean Energy and Power team within Google Global Networking and Infrastructure, you will be responsible for managing communications and engagement to advance Google’s strategic goals for energy. You will be responsible for driving public and community relations campaigns to convey Google’s positive global and local impact, managing work-streams with internal and external partners, developing talking points and narrative, and creating compelling multimedia content for internal and external audiences. You will also advocate for policies, standards, corporate actions, and societal efforts that are required to decarbonize global energy and economic systems.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work with the energy leadership team, cross-functional internal partners and external consultants to create, manage, and execute strategic communications and public engagement campaigns.

  • Serve as the team’s primary cross-functional liaison with partners, Economic Community Development, Sustainability, and Communication teams to ensure narrative and content alignment, branding and delivery.

  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and projects to create compelling content that conveys Google’s positive global and local impact (e.g., white papers and reports, videos, blog posts and op-eds, website copy, event proposals and social media posts).

  • Provide counsel and support to senior executives on media engagement, external thought leadership opportunities, and internal communications, including preparing speeches, presentations, and materials to educate leadership on energy initiatives, needs, and impact.
