Lyft Product Manager, Road Safety & Telematics in San Francisco, California

As the Product Manager for Road Safety and Telematics you’ll be thinking about our overall process for using ML models to develop products that empower safer driving on our platform. This includes the monitoring and collecting of driving signals in each ride to understand how smooth and safe they are. Using this data, you will create new road safety products that consider driver motivations and needs. You will lead the development of new telematics models that assess the company's total exposure to driving risk in partnership with our claims, data science and actuary teams. The product manager will develop and execute a long-term vision that will establish Lyft, its systems, and capabilities, as the industry leader in telematics and road safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the long-term vision, strategy, and product execution for the end to end road safety and telematics process including raw data collection, ML modeling, and building insightful products that help our drivers.

  • Integrate the latest ML, AI, and LLM tools into the overall process utilizing our large datasets to drive improvements for the entire telematics platform.

  • Focus on enabling key use cases, driving impact and balancing technical considerations

  • Translate customer and internal-user needs into clear, well-defined functional and technical requirements backed by data analysis and deep understanding of the risk tech landscape.

  • Execute on the roadmap with proper OKRs and project tracking

  • Communicate roadmaps, priorities and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from partner teams to executive levels.

  • Ensure that key leadership & stakeholders are aligned on proper priorities, opportunities and progress on key initiatives

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of product management or relevant product experience

  • An academic background in Engineering, Computer Science, or related science discipline.

  • Have a data driven mindset and are comfortable working with large data sets and technical internal tools

  • Detail oriented with superior organizational skills -- balancing multiple projects, deadlines, and requests should be second nature to you.

  • History of effectively working cross functionally and bridging gaps with multiple teams

  • Be able to define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products.

  • Strong communication skills and intuition for communication strategy at every level -- within teams, within the company, to users, to press, and other audiences.

  • Experience leading post-launch optimizations including developing testing strategies.

Bonus:

  • Experience building consumer software or hardware technology leveraging sensor data such as GPS, accelerometer, and other hardware experiences.

  • Experience implementing behavioral and habit changing products or services

  • Experience with Insurance Products or working closely with Insurance partners.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $124,000 - $155,000 . Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
