About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer. Monitoring Strategies Engineering provides capabilities to Digital Technology Innovation and its business partners by delivering best in class monitoring and observability solutions. Specifically, this Principal Engineer role will be responsible for providing design solutions for Digital Technology & Innovation's Content Delivery Network, this will including partnering with Enterprise network & security teams, business, product, marketing and technology teams. You will lead the engineering teams within DTI for all CDN related design work. The role will also lead front end performance best practices design and solutions for performance challenges and ongoing improvement. You will work closely with Development to help evangelize best practices for best in class front end web performance. You will act as the PE for Observability within DTI and interface closely with key Enterprise partners for logging, tracing and APM. You will matrix into Engineering Strategy.

In this role, you will:

• Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

• Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

• Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

• Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

• Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

• Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience with high volume web applications that process 30+ million customer sessions per day

• 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

• 5+ years experience tuning front end web performance issues2+ years design and/or engineering of Content Delivery Networks

Desired Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience with logging tools like Splunk or Google Cloud Logging

• 5+ years experience with APM tools like AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic

• 2+ years experience with tracing tools Elastic

• 2+ years experience with session replay tools like Glassbox
