We are seeking a highly motivated Azure Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) based in San Francisco , with a focus on Azure solutions and a passion for working with Digital Natives and Startups. In this role, you will work directly with some of the most ambitious and innovative companies in Silicon Valley's tech scene. You'll be helping these companies leverage cutting-edge technologies to transform their businesses, with a heavy focus on Generative AI workloads, open-source platforms, and scalable cloud solutions.

As an Azure CSA, Digital Natives, you will have the unique opportunity to influence the success of companies that are driving the future of technology. You will work with a diverse range of clients, from emerging startups to established digital-native leaders, providing them with the expertise and support they need to thrive in a competitive market. Your role will involve not only technical guidance but also strategic insights to help these companies achieve their goals and maximize their potential.

This role supports a fully remote work environment with 0-25% customer travel.

Responsibilities

Drive Customer Value

  • Lead in-depth technical architecture discussions with key client stakeholders, including senior executives, architects, IT management, and developers to drive customer value.

Customer Centricity​

  • Customer Usage: Lead architecture design, resiliency reviews, and technical optimization that result in production deployment application and increase customer business value. Drive efforts to ensure that the customer's environment and applications are well-architected.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Drive positive Customer Satisfaction

  • Customer/Partner Insights: Provide feedback & insights from customers/partners.​​

  • Consumption (Cloud & Support) growth: Develop opportunities to drive Customer Success business results & help Customers get value from their Microsoft investments.​

  • Resolution of Customer Blockers: Identify resolutions to Customer blockers by leveraging Solution Architect subject matter expertise. Deliver according to MS best practices & using repeatable IP. ​

Technical Leadership ​

  • Accelerate customer outcomes - Share expertise, contribute to IP creation & re-use to accelerate customer outcomes. ​

  • Architecture Design and Deployment: Receive and synthesize data about customer/partner business and technical requirements, address them with technical architecture(s), demonstrate and prove those solutions capability and business value through design collaboration sessions with the customer/partner.

  • Trusted Advisor (Competitor Insights/ Differentiated Value Proposition): Understand the competitor's architecture solutions and identify Microsoft's strengths over competitive solutions to drive conversations with customers/partners and convince them of solution.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure solutions in ANY combination of the following areas:

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Linux environments, security, storage, networking, and management tools in a cloud setting;

  • Automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) : Hands-on experience with automation, monitoring, IAC tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure Resource Manager templates, or similar);

  • Cloud Operations : Experience in managing containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), open-source software stacks, high-performance computing (HPC), or related cloud solutions

  • 4+ years of experience working with startups or high-growth digital native companies , including but not limited to the following: managing relationships in startup environments and the rapid pace and unique demands of these customers; dealing with the challenges of scalability, rapid deployment, cost optimization, and evolving needs of high-growth settings.

  • 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following Azure technologies: Azure Management Groups, Azure Policy, Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure, Azure Arc, Azure Active Directory (AAD), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Generative AI tools and services, or related Azure tools and technologies.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 8+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • SaaS or ISV experience is highly desirable.

  • 4+ years of technical sales and project management experience.

  • Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.

  • Solid foundation in Well Architected Framework/Cloud Adoption Framework (WAF/CAF) and experience managing various cloud infrastructure solutions (Linux, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, OSS, containers, Windows, HPC, automation, monitoring, and Infrastructure-as-code (IaC)).

  • Comprehensive understanding of common architecture patterns related to scaling workloads and managing data, with experience in AI/ML related workloads and MLOps being a plus.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including situational awareness and the ability to ask insightful questions to understand customer needs, issues, and business drivers

Cloud Solution Architecture IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
