Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will analyze blueprints to decide the best method to complete welding work. You will determine welding techniques used for different types of metals and metal alloys. You will maintain a clean welding work environment by keeping the area free of hazards (e.g., hoses, welding leads, hand tools, supporting equipment). You will determine heating or welding characteristics of metals to perform welding tasks. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Welder without more than normal supervision performing the following types of duties: 1) Perform a variety of complete welding assignments using manual, electric arc/inert gas shielded, gas torch or similar welding process to repair modify, or fabricate all types of metal and alloy parts, equipment or components; 2) Use blueprints, sketches, work orders, specifications, or other guides to plan, layout, and complete welding assignments; 3) Welding metal parts and structures that vary in size, shape and thickness; 4) Making welds to achieve complete penetration and/or fusion of dissimilar metals. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. A 40 hour work week is typical for this position. The incumbent may be required to work shift work, overtime on emergency basis, and re-called to duty on an emergency basis. The employee is required to work other normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
