The Video engineering server team is looking for experienced software engineers to build highly scalable, low latency backend services and data systems for the Apple TV app. This service platform is the backbone of the Apple TV app where it is supported, including iOS, tvOS, macOS, visionOS, Roku, Fire TV, and Samsung TV. We handle millions of requests per day from millions of end-users around the world to discover and consume Apple TV+ Originals, Live Sports broadcasts for MLS and MLB leagues, and the vast catalog of content from Apple partners. Description

You’ll be working on the video content catalog and discovery service platform that powers the Apple TV app. This team tackles challenging and interesting problems ranging from service scalability and service runtime performance, to the creation/fine-tuning and inference of models for content discovery. Design and implement services in Java. Improve on our catalog data system built on Solr. Perform data analysis using Spark and Scala. The ideal candidate would also be comfortable with AI/ML concepts like embeddings, ANN, and integrating AI/ML models into a backend service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years related work experience

  • Expertise in Solr, Lucene and/or Elastic Search required

  • Fluent in Java

  • Built backend services for consumer product

  • Built highly scalable micro-services

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AI/ML embeddings is preferred

  • Experience in video domain preferred

  • Built backend services for consumer products preferred

  • BS, MS in Computer Science or related domains

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
