G2 Ops, Inc. Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Multiple Roles) – San Diego, CA in San Diego, California

Work Setting: In-person with flexible working hours, some remote opportunities (not a fully remote position)

Looking to Start: ASAP

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 plus benefits

Years of Industry Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience

Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain Active DoD Clearance

General Responsibilities for All Roles:

  • Participate in system requirements reviews and maintain requirements documentation.

  • Identify potential system interface requirements.

  • Review system engineering documentation to validate specifications.

  • Produce and maintain system engineering models using modeling languages such as UML and SysML.

  • Produce artifacts to support customer objectives.

  • Participate in project/program technical risk analysis and mitigation.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a team environment.

  • Strong written, communication, and presentation skills.

    General Required Skills for All Roles:

  • Experience applying model-based systems and digital engineering procedures, processes, and methodologies.

  • Experience with UML/SysML modeling languages and/or DoDAF/UAF frameworks.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Experience with systems engineering aspects such as requirements elicitation, analysis, derivation, and traceability, functional analysis and allocation, WBS, trade studies, modeling and simulation, metrics, risk management, integration and test, verification, and validation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, along with effective time and project management skills.

    Role 1: Senior Principal Systems Engineer

    Years of Industry Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience

Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000

Looking to Start: ASAP

Security Clearance Requirement: DoD TS/SCI

Knowledge Requirement: Background in radio frequency and waveforms & knowledge of RF and antenna theory highly desired. Mobility and spectrum knowledge highly desired

Specific Duties:

  • Background in radio frequency, waveforms, etc.

  • Understanding of programmatic cost, schedule and performance from a technical side

  • Ability to interpret technical data and create and present briefs suitable for executive audiences and decision-makers

  • Ability to identify, lead, and manage Project Engineers and technical leads assigned to their project to include tasking assignments, completion progress, driving valuable outcomes, and meeting contractual requirements

  • Evaluates a wide range of problems in the development, deployment, and improvement of information systems, networks, equipment, and hardware and software applications

  • Identifies advances in automation technologies, state-of-the-art equipment, and applications for incorporation into existing and proposed electronic information systems

  • Evaluates in-house and contracted systems designs, interfaces, and integration work for effectiveness in resolving complex information systems and engineering requirements

  • Directs and/or conducts studies on cost, interoperability, industry trends, performance, reliability, and functionality of systems and networks

    Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of RF and antenna theory highly desired

  • Mobility and spectrum knowledge highly desired

  • Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams of engineers

    Role 2: Senior Principal Systems Engineer

    Years of Industry Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Looking to Start: ASAP

Security Clearance Requirement: DoD Secret

Specific Duties:

  • Experience with DOD Acquisition Systems Engineering practices

  • Experience in RF/microwave engineering and antenna design principles

  • Proficiency in system modeling, requirements analysis, and trade studies

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing cross-functional engineering teams

  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g. HFSS, CST) and system-level modeling software a plus

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and testing procedures for antenna systems

Let's talk salary. The salary range for this position based on what we are asking you to do in the role starts at $150,000 and goes up to $200,000, based on qualifications and experience. We'd like to start somewhere in that ballpark and go from there. As a Defense Contractor, we are working on and viewing some highly classified material, and therefore, we need to ensure where you access your work is secure. You will have your own new, shiny desk at one of our G2 Ops offices, plus the opportunity to work on-site directly with our customers (this is a good thing!). We do allow teleworking, but only with prior IT Department and manager approval.
