Intuit Senior Manager, Software Engineering (End to End software development/SRE) in San Diego, California

Overview

Join the Systems and Operational Engineering organization team as a Manager 2 working on building a self service disaster recovery platform.

Our Senior Manager is an engineering leader who works with the engineering staff to innovate and build new engineering solutions, improve, and enhance existing solutions as well as leverage engineering solutions to solve critical operational problems.

You will also be responsible for growing and developing a high performing engineering team, who are driven and autonomous in nature. You will support the development of a healthy team culture that retains your team members and encourages their professional development and career aspirations. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role and empower others with that knowledge.

What you'll bring

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related area or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.

  • 7+ years of experience in delivering software products with 3+years of experience as an established technical leader of software engineering teams that have successfully delivered software products

  • 6+ years coding experience (Go, Python, React)

  • 5+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms leveraging Cloud infrastructure (AWS, or GCP).

  • Strong Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (Wavefront,Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Hands on engineering leader who can nurture working with highly motivated and extremely talented engineers to work on high visibility initiatives.

  • Someone with strong belief in agile and lean thinking with a passion for velocity, engineering and operational excellence.

  • Solid software development fundamentals (Data Structures, algorithms, problem solving, OO Design, and system architecture) with specialization on end to end software development using modern SaaS / public cloud deployments with a DevOps mindset.

  • Expert communicator and love working with multiple stakeholders for common outcomes with high stakes at company level.

  • Strong business acumen. Understands the business internal and external landscape and thinks/acts strategically for all stakeholders.

  • Drives strategic technology/engine reuse, technology and architecture health, and development process improvement.

  • A highly technical and result-oriented leader experienced in determining goals and matching those with customer requirements and product roadmap.

  • Adept at leading positive change, empowering people, cultivating product technology visions and innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering teams.

  • Provide technical leadership, career development, and management of performance, objectives, and priorities of all reporting staff - Build a high performing, results-oriented organization.

  • Drive and own the functional and non-functional requirements road map for your organization.

  • Develop product expertise and advocate on behalf of the customer.

  • Drive initiatives to improve testing at all levels & deliver automation to ensure robustness and a seamless customer experience.

  • Drive adoption of best practices, tools, systems and metrics across the organization.

  • Imbibe and coach excellence in product, engineering and operations.
