Epic Sciences Senior Business Systems Analyst in San Diego, California

Epic Sciences, Inc. is developing novel diagnostics to personalize and advance the treatment and management of cancer. Epic’s mission is to enable the rapid and non-invasive detection of genetic and molecular changes in cancer throughout a patient’s journey.  The company was founded on a powerful platform to identify and characterize rare cells, including circulating tumor cells (CTCs).  Our technology helps match patients to targeted therapies and monitor for drug resistance, so that the best treatment path can be chosen at every clinical decision point.  Today, we partner with leading pharmaceutical companies and major cancer centers around the world.  Epic’s goal is to commercialize our technology to increase the success rate of cancer drugs in clinical trials and improve patient outcomes by providing physicians real-time information to guide treatment choices.

SUMMARY:

The Senior Business Systems Analysis is a technical role focused on leading technical teams responsible for producing specifications for technology systems.

  • Leads initiatives to analyze complex business problems to be solved with automated systems

  • Provides leadership for a team that provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements

  • Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret, and produce recommendations based on company systems needs

  • Advises business groups by providing technical and strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities.  

  • Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision.

  • Selects, develops, provides feedback and mentoring and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function

  • Demonstrate proficiency with various diagramming techniques, such as flow charts, sequence diagrams, data models, etc.

  • Demonstrate user interface wire-framing techniques

  • Be able to provide program management support to Platform Team projects as needed

    ELEMENTS:

    Education/Experience:   

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Business Systems Analyst, or similar role

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Strongly preferred: Healthcare or laboratory experience as Business Systems Analyst

    Communication Skill :  

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, a demonstrated ability to elicit functional and non-functional requirements from end users and provide high quality requirements to technical team members, a demonstrated ability to convey complex technical issues to non-technical end-users to facilitate high quality requirements

    Interpersonal Skill:  

    Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization, an inclusive style that ensures that all members of the project team and other key individuals have a voice in requirements and solution design, demonstrated ability to incorporate many points of view and maintain flexibility when finding solutions to challenges

    Judgment:  

    Provides insight re:  problem solving by offering novel approaches and incorporating new technologies, ability to design and lead (research, analyze data, interpret results, and provide summaries of same) projects and carry them to completion against a timeline.   

    Execution:

    Highly efficient at time management and prioritization; able to help the group establish timelines to accomplish complex tasks; ability to troubleshoot problems and generate effective solutions, may be a member of cross functional teams and provide counsel and guidance re:  possible uses of Epic platform technology.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    May perform additional duties as assigned or directed by management from time to time.
