Robert Half is partnering with a boutique, ethics-first, flexible personal injury firm on High Bluff Drive in the lovely city of Del Mar. They are seeking a full paralegal to join their growing practice!

The individual will be expected to work in a hybrid work environment, dividing their time between the office and home. The role is primarily focused on personal injury law, including medical malpractice and nursing home abuse, with a secondary focus on employment law.

Responsibilities:

• Handle all personal injury or medical malpractice plaintiff, pre-litigation, and litigation work

• Communicate with clients, providing case updates

• File with the courts through One Legal

• Calendar litigation deadlines in FileVine and Office 365

• Format legal documents in Word before filing

• Obtain medical and billing records using external companies

• Create templates for deposition notices

• Respond to discovery from shells, and occasionally propound to discovery

• Schedule depositions

• Occasionally answer the phone as a backup to the main team

• Prepare mentally for trial, despite most cases settling before trial stage

• Attend weekly team meetings to review cases, priorities, and learnings

^ Pay is contingent upon fluency with the tasks above.

Requirements

• 3+ years of personal injury or insurance defense experience in CA

• Knowledge of pre-litigation and litigation practices, ideally on the plaintiff side

• Solid understanding of CA civil codes & procedures

• A desire to represent individuals, not insurance companies

• Ability to commute to Del Mar (right off the 5 freeway on High Bluff Drive) 3x/week
