Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Payroll Specialist to manage and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing for our client's organization. In this role, you will work closely with human resources, finance, and management teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll in an accurate and timely manner for all employees

• Ensure proper calculations for hours worked, tax withholdings, deductions, and other payroll components such as overtime, bonuses, commissions, and reimbursements.

• Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hire information, terminations, pay rate changes, and other relevant data.

• Prepare and file payroll-related taxes and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax reporting and remittance requirements.

• Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, such as discrepancies, direct deposits, and benefits deductions, providing clear and accurate information.

• Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate tracking of employee information such as paid time off (PTO) balances, sick leave, and other benefits.

• Perform regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Generate payroll reports for management and finance, including benefits summaries, tax filings, and other documentation as requested.

• Stay updated on payroll-related laws and regulations to ensure compliance and implement necessary updates in payroll procedures.

• Support the preparation of annual W-2, W-4, and 1099 forms and other documentation as needed.

  Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline (preferred but not required).

• 2-4+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume setting.

• Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar platforms) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Familiarity with federal and state labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll compliance requirements.

• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.

• Certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with multi-state payroll processing is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with union payroll or specialized payroll functions such as garnishments is a plus.

• Knowledge of benefits administration to support payroll integration with benefit programs.
