Aerotek Marine Electrician in San Diego, California

NOW HIRING: ELECTRICTIAN

Description:

Ksaria's Field Installation Services organization on board US Navy ships. The position will be responsible for the installation, termination and testing of fiber optic and copper cable assemblies necessary to support a variety of ship’s services, including power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems.

Good communications skills (written and verbal), the ability to work off customer drawings, and a keen attention to detail are a must for this position.

The individual will report to the Field Service Operations Manager and/or Project Lead and must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and travel for extended periods of time when necessary.

Install, tag and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval Vessels.

Performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels.

Troubleshooting and testing of fiber and copper cables and circuits.

Possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance.

Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.

Knowing and understanding the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimper's, soldering and expected to accomplish the more complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will have DBIDS in hand, otherwise DBIDS eligible

Must be badge eligible for NASSCO, BAE, and CMSD yards

Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)

Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5)

Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items

Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.

Completion of Navy “A” School (“C” School is a plus) or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program (recognized shipyard apprentice graduates are a plus)
