Logistics & Technology Services, Inc. Machinery Maintenance Mechanic in San Diego, California

FORTIS Industries is interviewing for a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic for our Southern CA contracts. We are looking for candidates with ambition, a strong desire to learn new skills and ability and willingness to work with minimum supervision. Position requires a general understanding of maintenance requirements for an array of mechanical areas including overhead doors, air compressors, water, gates and turn styles.

Duties for this position will include but may not be limited to the following.

  • Performs repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance on roll up door systems and associated equipment.
  • Maintains facility equipment to include doors, generators, air compressors and other equipment as specified on the contract.
  • Performs work orders on facilitys buildings and grounds as required.
  • Makes equipment adjustments and reports any serious equipment problems as PMs in the M plus computer system.
  • Maintains computerized and manual records and prepares reports pertaining to the operation of the daily work orders, and makes changes as required to meet operating requirements.
  • Identifies, schedules, and coordinates the work of outside maintenance contractors in support of the facility(s) as needed.
  • Follows Companys Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies. Wear and work in proper personal protective equipment.
  • Assists with operational tasks in conjunction with operation or as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs other related functions assigned, as they become apparent, or as management assigns.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of mechanical operations, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems related to equipment in assigned work area.
  • Knowledge of proper operation of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Effectively and safely operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, air compressors and other small equipment related to the maintenance trades.

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Additional trade specific courses preferred.
  • Welding is highly desirable.
  • Three (3) years experience in the maintenance field

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid, active state drivers license.
  • Must pass drug screening and background checks.

Work Environment:

  • Employees may be required to work indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions. Employees may be required to work where they may be regularly exposed to fumes, dust, and odors.
  • Some high noise levels from operations of equipment.
  • Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks related to the maintenance.
  • May have to work after normal work hours for on-call assignments.

Rate of Pay: $29.18 per hour plus Health and Welfare of $4.57 per hr. (max of 40 hrs. per week) Vacation and Sick Leave Available benefits include:Medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, accident and critical illness insurance, flex spending, and 401(k).
