Description

As a Healthcare Receptionist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in our healthcare facility. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients, schedule appointments, and ensure a smooth and efficient check-in process. Additionally, you will assist with administrative tasks and provide support to healthcare staff as needed. Responsibilities:

Patient Reception:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner.

  • Check patients in for appointments, verify demographic and insurance information, and update patient records as necessary.

  • Direct patients to appropriate departments or healthcare providers.

Appointment Scheduling:

  • Schedule patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems.

  • Coordinate appointments with healthcare providers, ensuring optimal scheduling efficiency and patient flow.

  • Confirm appointments and provide appointment reminders to patients as needed.

Patient Registration and Documentation:

  • Collect and enter patient information accurately into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Verify insurance coverage and process insurance information.

  • Ensure completion of necessary forms and documentation for patient registration.

Telephone and Communication:

  • Answer incoming calls, take messages, and route calls to appropriate personnel.

  • Respond to patient inquiries, provide information about services, and address patient concerns with professionalism and empathy.

  • Relay messages and information accurately and promptly to healthcare staff.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and photocopying medical records and documents.

  • Coordinate patient referrals, transfers, and medical records requests as needed.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a receptionist or in a customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and EMR systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
