Description

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to improving education. They are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support their financial operations and ensure resources are effectively managed to maximize impact. Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, donor funds, and grant accounts to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Prepare financial reports for grants, donor funding, and organizational budgets.

  • Monitor and track restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with applicable tax and reporting regulations.

  • Assist in preparing documentation for annual audits and IRS Form 990 filings.

  • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for programs and initiatives.

  • Maintain and organize financial records to ensure transparency and compliance with nonprofit regulations.

    Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting practices, including fund accounting and grant reporting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Nonprofit, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect) is a plus.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for nonprofits, including tax-exempt status and grant reporting, is a plus.
