San Diego Humane Society is hiring a temporary full-time Animal Care Associate for our Behavior & Training team!

    What you’ll do:

  • Complete daily cleaning routines in a timely fashion, maintaining assigned area in a clean, organized and professional manner.

  • Provide kennel enrichment, train, and socialize animals in assigned area as time permits.

  • Monitor the health of shelter animals; follow established procedures if symptoms of illness arise based on the degree of illness or injury.

  • Will assist as needed to restrain incoming pets for blood draw and examination.

  • Drive the society van to transport animals, materials, and animal care supplies to various locations in San Diego, Escondido, and Oceanside.

  • Provide general information to the public on SDHS processes including adoption, relinquishment, medical and behavioral processes and euthanasia.

  • Promote positive relationships with the general public, volunteers and staff while promoting the society’s programs, policies and philosophies.

  • Daily data entry utilizing the Shelter Buddy software ensuring notes are clear and concise.

    What we’re looking for:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • One (1) year experience working with animals in a shelter, kennel, vet clinic or volunteer environment strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of animal breeds, general care and behavior related information. Knowledge of canine and feline behavior preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved by SDHS insurance carrier to drive a company or personal vehicle for work purposes.

    Location & Duration: Based at our San Diego Campus. These positions work 40 hours per week and will last approximately 4 months.

    Pay: Starting range is between $17.75 and $19.75 per hour. The actual hourly rate is determined by your related education and experience.
