Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Safe Release Support Fingerprint Specialist in San Antonio, Texas

Reporting to the Senior Program Officer for Safe Release Support, the Safe Release Support Fingerprint Specialist is responsible for capturing the fingerprints of potential sponsors and/or household members as part of the Office of Refugee Resettlement background check for the safe release of a minor into sponsor's care. This is a component in the assessment for family reunification to ensure the minor is released into a safe home environment. In addition, the fingerprint specialist will assist potential sponsors with filling out necessary documents, explain the family reunification process, and provide local community resources that are linguistically and culturally competent.

    DUTIES

  • Coordinate with the shelter case manager in scheduling fingerprint appointments to accommodate the sponsor's date/time request

  • Create an electronic file of fingerprint appointment and upload the necessary documents in a case management system

  • Identify local medical/mental health/education/legal resources to assist minors and sponsors with social support and successful acclimation to the community

  • Complete all required HHS/ACF/ORR background checks for access to the safe Release Support Fingerprint Systems

  • Comply with HHS Rules of Behavior for Use of HHS Information and Resources, ORR Policy and Procedures, and LIRS Safe Release Support Program Site Operations Manual

  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA standards

  • Complete other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Undergraduate degree preferred

  • A minimum of two years experience in general office and customer service, Child welfare, and/or case management experience is strongly encouraged

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, UC Portal

  • Detail-oriented, organized with good time management skills

  • Fluent in English and Spanish

  • Team-oriented

  • Experience and commitment to working in a diverse environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and exercise sound judgment in complex, sensitive, and confidential situations

  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality;

  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;

    Special Position Requirements

  • Spanish language ability preferred

  • Up to 10% travel Required

  • A valid driver's license is required

  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check as well as a CA/N check for every state in which they have resided in the last five years.
