Navistar, Inc. Maintenance Technician Lead in San Antonio, Texas

Position Overview

The Navistar San Antonio Manufacturing Plant is a benchmark facility that builds leading-edge commercial vehicles to meet the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – customers.

This facility has the flexibility to build Class 6-8 trucks along with Electric Vehicles that allow Navistar to add capacity to support anticipated industry growth. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected manufacturing principles, Navistar's newest manufacturing facility will continue growing our market share gains, optimizing our supplier network and improving quality.

Navistar is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician Leads to join our newest manufacturing facility in San Antonio, TX.

The Maintenance Technician Lead performs manufacturing production and non-production machine and equipment maintenance. Performs skilled preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum up-time. Oversees work assignments for Maintenance Technicians, supports and trains others. Assists with planning and preparation of training and orientation for new maintenance team members. Support spare parts analysis and inventory. Support purchasing operations for tools, supplies and spare parts.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment, PPE and adhering to safety guidelines.• Assists with the establishment and maintenance of work instructions, process procedures and standards for maintenance and repair functions• Receive and manage time sensitive work order assignments• Read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic blueprints and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems• Troubleshoot and repair production and non-production machines and equipment.• Repair materials handling equipment as required• Install conduit and electrical wire in compliance with electrical code, install data cable and termination of Cat 5,6 and fiber• Install and repair power panels• Troubleshoot and repair motor control and drive systems, various robotics systems, machine network systems, tooling systems, industrial control systems, and various forms of industrial automation• Repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)• Perform metal fabrication, welding and heavy equipment repair• Prioritize work orders, assign work tasks to Maintenance Technician team• Track report out maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)• Mentor, develop and train junior Maintenance Technicians• Work with vendors and monitor work performance• All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • At least eight years of manufacturing maintenance experience servicing production related equipment

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Must have organization skills and effective communication skills with both technical and professional staff

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions on all industrial systems

  • Ability to lead, teach and mentor others with a positive attitude

  • Ability to clearly communicate expected results to Technicians and vendors

  • Expert knowledge of preventive maintenance

  • Ability to work efficiently, with a sense of urgency and prioritize tasks

  • Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines

  • Must be willing to work any shift

  • Must have the flexibility to work a rotating weekly on-call schedule

  • Must have the flexibility to work mandatory Overtime Rotation as needed

  • Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per day):

  • Walk, stand, sit, bend, twist/turn, kneel, squat, crawl

  • Climb using both legs and arms

  • Head/neck movement

  • Reach outward or above the shoulder

  • Drive or operate equipment such as lifts and/or motor vehicles

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull 15-45 pounds

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers, both hands

  • Use of vibrating tools

  • Depth perceptions required

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color

  • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces

Desired Skills

  • Desired Electrical or Maintenance Journeyman license

  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Industrial Maintenance

  • At least five years of manufacturing electrical experience servicing production related electrical systems and equipment

  • At least five years of experience in troubleshooting, installing, and repairing production equipment, welding, robotic technology, Variable Frequency Drives, conduit, electrical panels, power/control wire and building automation

  • Previous experience with manufacturing painting robotic equipment

  • PLC programming, ladder logic experience

  • Hoist operation/troubleshooting

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Possess expert working knowledge and understanding of industrial electrical systems with the ability to use a Volt/Ohm, Meter

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of industrial voltages, 24 to 480 volt

  • Expert knowledge of hand tools, ability to disassemble and reassemble using proper equipment

  • Expert knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components

  • Expert knowledge of industrial safety requirements related to hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials and environments

  • Must be able to observe/troubleshoot needed repairs of all types of manufacturing machines and equipment to include paint automation equipment

  • Knowledge of INFOR and MTTR

  • Customer focused and a drive for results
