Job Description:

Our growing company is looking to fill the role of a skilled Fluorescent Penetrant Inspector who is proficient in using calibrated metrological tools and measuring equipment. This inspector will perform a variety of FPI operations and in process inspections in accordance with company procedures, as well as customer specifications to ensure the integrity of the components, parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate should be willing to participate in cross-training activities to enhance their skills and contribute to the continuous improvement of MT Texas processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inspector will be responsible for in-process inspections of aerospace / gas turbine engine components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications.
  • Operate, control, and maintain all required FPI equipment
  • Follow all FAA and customer requirements for certification and continuing education
  • Follow operation sheet requirements and sign off on travelers as required
  • Must maintain accurate record of daily inspections and production activity
  • Communicate with other departments to provide continuous feedback of inspection results
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Supervisor, Quality and Engineering personnel
  • Participate in cross-training efforts interacting with other departments to acquire additional skills and knowledge
  • Maintain workstation in a clean and orderly manner
  • Perform in a safe and productive manner in compliance with company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (documentation required)
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s) (documentation required)
  • Must be willing to continue FPI training with the goal of attaining Level II FPI Certification
  • Must be responsive with department personnel/associates to promote a team player environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and keyboarding skills for data entry
  • Must be able to use micrometers, dial indicators accurately and other precision inspection equipment
  • Must have strong math competency, with the ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances
  • Must be able to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Be able to read, write and document information clearly in English
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary
  • 20/20 vision (corrected) required in at least one eye
  • Ongoing FAA testing and training required.
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-hire FAA drug testing will be required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Penetrant Level 2 ASNT/NAS 410
  • Prior experience with visual and dimensional inspections of aerospace / gas turbine components at an FAA 145 Repair Station
  • 6 months + experience in manufacturing and/or quality work
  • General understanding of AS9100 and the requirements
  • An understanding of Metallurgical Laboratory, Titrations, Calibrations, CMM, and Production Operations

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. The employee must frequently lift or move hardware. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
