Valero Facility Maintenance Electrician III in SAN ANTONIO, Texas

Description:

Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) and provides technical leadership and training to lower level staff members in all trades with Facility Maintenance. Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment, and electrical systems.

  • Plans and schedules work with minimal supervision. Work on project objectives proposed by engineers and or outside contractors including planning and scheduling the sequence of work from drawings and blueprints.
  • Completes all assigned work orders and ensure (PM) schedules are maintained on all electrical systems and equipment.
  • Provides clear and professional summaries of progress and completion of projects and work orders.
  • Directs, oversees and coordinates work performed by external service contractors.
  • Improves the department's efficiency and reliability while maintaining the department's safety record.
  • Facilitates communication and direction between supervisory personnel, facility electricians and other trades as required.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Performs diagnostics, installations, alterations, and preventative maintenance on various types of electrical, voice/data cabling, fire alarm systems, as initially designed including updating As-Built prints.
  • Makes calculated decisions regarding loading of circuits, distribution panels, and transformers.
  • Examines electrical equipment to diagnose problems, including disassembling and assembling equipment. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces parts as necessary.
  • Ensures all work is performed safely and in accordance with established building codes and safety procedures.
  • Assists other Facility Services staff with preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and kitchen equipment; as well as replacing light bulbs, painting, general carpentry work, and stock and delivery of items to public areas within the facilities.
  • Assists team members with completing required documentation for work order system.
  • Trains, assists, and monitors less experienced co-workers with repairs and maintenance of lighting, electrical controls, and voice/data cabling installation.
  • Works with power tools, hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic pipe benders), and testing equipment. Maintains accountability for individual and departmental tools and equipment.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
* High School diploma or GED required. * 10 years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas required: installing, repairing, and maintaining assorted types of electrical cabling, equipment, and systems; installing voice and data cabling; and servicing and troubleshooting equipment and controls using various types of test equipment required. * Master Electrical license with at least 8 years minimum experience in commercial and or industrial settings required. * State Mandated Continuing Education required * Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required. * 10 years of overall experience, including 5 years of fiber optic installation, termination, and testing experience preferred. * AVAYA Systemax certification preferred. * OSHA 30 certification preferred. * Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Driver's License within specified timeframe required. * Master Electrical License required. * All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
