Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IAssists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Coordinates and monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, and estimates.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IIIn addition to the duties listed aboveAssists in developing and monitoring project estimates.Assists with the training of engineering and technical staff.Coordinates with others to develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure projects are executed in the most efficient manner possible.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IIIIn addition to the duties listed aboveUtilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex transportation projects.May serve as a lead worker; assigning related tasks, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others.Transportation Engineer IVIn addition to the duties listed aboveUpdates, reviews, monitors, and reviews requests for changes to plans, manuals and standard sheets.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
