Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilledEcho Technician (Sonographer)to provide essential echocardiography services at the VA Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. In this role, the Echo Tech will perform non-invasive diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations to support the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of veteran patients. This position offers the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team in a collaborative environment that values patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct echocardiographic exams, including M-mode, 2D, Doppler, and color flow ultrasound imaging.

  • Review and analyze images to provide accurate and reliable assessments for cardiac function and structure.

  • Prepare and maintain equipment, ensuring it meets safety and operational standards.

  • Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare providers to interpret results and develop treatment plans.

  • Record patient history and exam findings in the VA’s electronic medical record system.

  • Adhere to all VA policies, guidelines, and infection control procedures.

  • Ensure patient comfort and confidentiality throughout all procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of a diagnostic medical sonography program specializing in cardiac sonography from an accredited institution.

  • Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) certification in Adult Echocardiography.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echo Technician, preferably within a VA or hospital setting.

  • Skills: Proficiency in echocardiography techniques, excellent patient communication, and strong attention to detail.

  • Technical Requirements: Knowledge of ultrasound and echocardiography equipment; familiarity with medical record systems (CPRS preferred).
