Job Description

The Department of Computational, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks applications from qualified candidates, with a passion for teaching and scholarship, for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for the Cyber Engineering Technology (CETE) program. Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, participation in grant funded research projects, and ability to collaborate with colleagues on curricular and programmatic issues is expected. Growth of the two master’s programs in Cybersecurity and Computer Science is a priority for the university. The base teaching load at A&M-SA for Assistant Professors is 3/3. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Service to the department, college, university, and the community is expected.

A&M-SA is a comprehensive regional university with over 8,000 students (Fall 2024) enrolled in undergraduate programs and select graduate programs. It has transformed rapidly into a growing urban university during the past decade. Part of the statewide Texas A&M University System, A&M-SA is located on 694 acres in south San Antonio and serves a multicultural student body, offering academic programs that meet regional needs. The campus, with Mudéjar style buildings and contemporary facilities that leverage technology to enhance the student experience, embraces the spirit of San Antonio’s rich culture. Self-reported demographic data indicate 60% of students are the first generation in their family in college, 77% are Hispanic, and 66% women. The goal is to meet students ‘where they are,’ be sensitive to their academic and curricular needs, and be committed to their progressive and sustained growth.

A&M-SA is committed to universal excellence. We recruit faculty that enhance the breadth, depth, and quality of our students' educational experience by providing a variety of role models and mentors for our student population. Such faculty help us attract, retain, and graduate students more successfully.
