The LRS HAZMART Lead shall be responsible for ensuring all hazardous materials used on the installation are properly authorized and tracked in the EESOH-MIS system. Warehouse operations require proper storage of all hazardous materials (HM) in assigned locations. The LRS HAZMART Lead responsibilities include proper chemical segregation, shelf-life monitoring, ensuring proper storage of hazardous material and providing Monthly and Quarterly Status Reports.]

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all HM is properly tracked in the Enterprise Environmental, Safety & Occupational Health-Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) with proper data entry and material is labeled with appropriate material control barcodes/labels.

  • Directs activities related to the receipt and issue of HM from the LRS Supply warehouse and other procurement resources, as well as excess serviceable material from various sources for the Free Issue program.

  • Provides EESOH-MIS functions for LRS HAZMART support.

  • Ensures issuing of HM, as directed by customer request, is performed in an expeditious manner.

  • Validates authorizations prior to issuing hazardous materials.

  • Maintains compliance with all USAF, federal, state, and local hazardous material and hazardous waste regulations related to operation of the HAZMART along with logistics requirements.

  • Ensures accurate locating and segregating of incompatibles.

  • Manages inventories of assigned warehouse storage by validating inventory accuracy.

  • Conducts warehouse hazardous material assessments to ensure compliance.

  • Receives empty HM containers or tracking labels from customers and properly disposes of containers and closing out tracking labels after paperwork is processed.

  • Ensures maintenance of a clean and neat warehouse at all times.

  • Manages and monitors the shelf-life of HM and extends as required in accordance with (IAW) current directives.

  • Manages expired or unserviceable hazardous materials to ensure they are properly removed from inventory and turned in as waste.

  • Conducts hazardous material shop assessments to ensure program compliance.

  • Assists in obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) information.

  • Assists customers with the hazmat authorization process.

  • Promotes pollution prevention initiatives.

  • Creates and provides Monthly and Quarterly Status Reports

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Logistics, Environmental Sciences OR

  • Minimum two (2) years of related hazardous material work experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience.

  • Air Force logistics experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience successfully managing operations for the federal government.

  • Knowledge of hazardous material storage requirements.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Hazardous Material, Hazardous Waste and Pollution Prevention programs.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and neat work environment at all times.

  • Ability to accomplish all tasks associated with contract operations.

  • Ability to obtain a forklift license.

  • Ability to display Total Customer Service attitude.
