Description
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (MPSY) at Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks to fill one (1) position for a full time, 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date in the fall of 2025. Applications will be accepted at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Professor (Academic Professional Track- Non Tenure), commensurate with qualifications.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Texas A&M College of Medicine is seeking a Psychiatry Residency Program Director to serve as the founding leader of a newly-developed residency program within the Shannon Health System in San Angelo, TX. As the College plans to expand its student enrollment, this new residency program will increase the number of PGY-1 positions available for graduating physicians and is tangible evidence of our College's commitment to creating and expanding physician workforce development programs in rural areas.
We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our mutual commitment to enhance the health and wellbeing of Texans, particularly those in San Angelo and the Concho Valley. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of educational and clinical leadership to the position. The ideal candidate must bring a high level of professionalism, systems-based thinking, organizational, and managerial skill to the position. As a leader of healthcare professionals at all stages of their careers, the optimal candidate will be flexible and adaptive to the ever-changing needs of his/her constituents.
The chosen candidate's primary academic responsibility will be the education and teaching of psychiatry residents and medical students. As ABPN or AOBPN certified core faculty member of an accredited psychiatry residency, the faculty member will be required to educate students and residents within both clinical and didactic classroom settings.
The faculty member's secondary academic responsibility will be in the area of service, serving as a role model for future physicians while maintaining an active inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric practice. The incumbent will guide the psychiatry residency's clinical service as both administrator and clinical leader.
Lastly, the faculty member will be required to produce two scholarly projects on average over five years.

Qualifications
Required:
MD, DO or equivalent professional degree
Current certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neuology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Minimum of three (3) years experience in medical Education, academic administration, or clinical administration
Currently clinically active
Preferred:
Experience in residency education as core faculty, associate program director, or program director
