Neighborhood House Toddler Lead Teacher in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Do you love helping children learn, grow and play? Do you like to know you are making a difference in the community. Our Lead Teacher position might be the perfect position for you. Neighborhood House offers nationally accredited, toddler, preschool, afterschool and summer programs for children ages 15 months to 12 years old. As a Lead Teacher you will be creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can experience success.

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining lesson plans to ensure the daily delivery of curriculum promoting cognitive development, large and small motor skills, social skills, and self-help skills. You will be providing a nurturing environment and helping children effectively manage their emotions. Setting appropriate boundaries and interacting with diverse children, parents and staff in a positive, respectful manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To promote children's self-esteem through appropriate hands-on activities, positive interaction, and respect for each child's individual worth and to guarantee safety.
  • To understand and implement the Creative Curriculum model, using play-based learning and interest centers as the basis for a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment.
  • To utilize planning time (naptime) constructively to develop activities that will enhance the cognitive, physical, language, literacy, emotional, and social development of the children.
  • To be directly and actively involved in activities with the children, including extending the curriculum to the playground area.
  • To assess each individual child and use that information to provide challenging activities which build and strengthen individual skills using informal and formal assessment tools.
  • To manage the classroom in a positive and constructive manner through use of behavioral management techniques consistent with DAP philosophy.
  • To work in collaboratively with a team of teachers.

Qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in early childhood development or closely related field (CDA plus 3 years of experience may be considered)
  • First-Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Valid Utah Driver's License
  • Utah Food Handler's Permit
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Follow all licensing rules and regulations.
  • Pass Child Care Licensing Background Check
  • Pass a drug test
  • COVID Vaccinated
  • Must speak, read and write English Fluently
