Job Summary

The David Eccles School of Business is seeking a talented, energetic professional as a Student Engagement Coordinator for the Full-Time MBA program to support students from acceptance to graduation. Student onboarding, academic advising, office management, program and event coordination, outreach, and maintaining records are all essential functions of this position. The position is student and external facing, requiring extensive interaction with incoming and current students, alumni, faculty, vendors, and other school and university staff. This person must have strong communication and project management skills, have a high-quality service orientation, be an effective team player, and be an excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

Student Advising

  • Serve as a primary resource for MBA students, providing information and strategic guidance on degree and certificate-related issues such as graduation requirements, course planning, and registration.

  • Work with students to ensure ongoing satisfaction with the program and successful progress toward degree completion.

  • Utilize online tools such as the Degree Audit Reporting System to monitor and assist students with timely academic progress, exploration of various academic options, and course selection.

  • Participate in recruitment, admissions, retention, and student engagement activities.

  • Collaborate with academic units and student services departments throughout the university to facilitate comprehensive student support.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of new programs, events, and other projects as needed.

Academic Course Management and Event Support

  • Plan, implement, and ensure the quality of Full-Time MBA class days by coordinating with faculty and arranging logistics for students.

  • Assist faculty with the setup of their Canvas courses, arrange for TA support, and provide overall course support throughout the semester.

  • Plan and execute MBA events, such as student and alumni networking events, graduations, and prospective student events.

  • Reconcile payments and billing to appropriate accounts.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of events, including candidate and student information, and provide suggestions for improving future events.

Recruiting & Admissions

  • Assist with recruiting and admissions event preparation and execution, including significant interpersonal communication to discuss program details with prospective students via phone, email, and in person.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

2 years’ of related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of previous experience in one or more of the following areas: advising, student recruitment/retention, or related student services. Experience should demonstrate a proactive and innovative approach resulting in measurable outcomes in retention, graduation, and academic planning; or any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Experience working with graduate-level academic advising.

  • Knowledge of current issues and theories in public and higher education, college academic advising, student recruitment, retention, and student success.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, data retrieval, student information systems, and student degree auditing reports.

  • Experience in designing presentation materials and delivering presentations.

  • Experience in organizing and planning special events.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to provide high-level, fast-paced customer service in a student services environment, prioritizing student success in their approach to academic advising.
