This position orders, receives, inspects, warehouses, and issues equipment, materials, and supplies. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Orders materials, equipment, and supplies by processing requisitions through central stores, purchasing, or the vendor directly.

  • Enters order information into the computer system and ensures that merchandise is delivered to the appropriate location.

  • Receives deliveries and compares shipments with records to verify that the delivered stock meets specifications.

  • Resolves order problems with vendors.

  • Stores materials and keeps storeroom organized and materials accessible to staff members.

  • Distributes equipment and supplies to students, faculty and campus departments.

  • Conducts inventory of the storeroom and ensures that inventory levels are maintained to cover departmental requests.

  • Handles the receipt, inspection and delivery of radioactive and flammable materials according to federal standards and organization policies and procedures.

  • Keeps departments informed on ordering techniques and resolves concerns of dissatisfied customers.

  • May assist department personnel in the selection of supplies and equipment and ensures quality of materials is consistent with department needs.

  • May assist in preparing materials for student laboratories, including chemical solutions, using knowledge of experiments to be performed and materials required.

  • May compile orders for Purchasing and verify the receipt of orders with Accounts Payable.

  • May install and/or set up equipment and perform minor repairs.

  • May train and assign work to aides or other staff members.

  • May perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated human relations skills.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Ability to make decisions regarding special orders, item substitutions, shipping problems, inventory control, and back ordering.

  • Ability to problem solve with departments regarding equipment, materials and supplies.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new applications and software.

  • Ability to assimilate data from various sources.

  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.

  • Able to prioritize and multi task in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • One (1) year of shipping and receiving or stockroom experience, or the equivalency.

  • Depending upon department of hire, a valid, State of Utah Driver's License may be required.

  • This position involves very physical work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects. The position may involve moving heavy equipment and/or supplies.
