The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: Pay Range: $140,200.00 - $217,200.00
Job Description
Staff Cloud Engineer
Job Profile Summary: The Staff Cloud Engineer will have a comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture, design principles, and the intricate details of implementing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions. They act as a liaison between the software development teams and other infrastructure engineers. They work closely with development teams and architects to ensure a reliable, efficient, and stable infrastructure to house university software technologies that serve student and employee populations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: * Supervises work on cloud technologies and scalable architecture. * Supervises the architecture and design of complete model solutions. * Leads and performs research and analysis to find solutions for complex business problems. * Deploys automation of software deployment and automation tools. * Increases application and system responsiveness. * Monitors performance by anticipating and correcting operational issues before occurrence. * Creates more stable operating environments by continuously improving infrastructure to be easily deployable and scalable. * Positively impacts projects by completing assigned tasks on time. * Communicates technical and domain knowledge as it relates to work, to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Helps continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automation, or simplifies self-service modeling and production support for customers. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities: * Expertise implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments. * Experience with highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments. * Expertise in infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (e.g. shell, Python, Node, Ruby, Powershell). * Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google) or Virtualized environment. * Experience leading cloud operations, including assurance, monitoring, alerting, and notifications. * Experience scripting/programming in Bash, Java, and Node.js. * Understanding of DevOps, Scrum, and ITIL concepts. *...
