Job Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining the uptime, visual appeal, and functionality of digital screens across campus, as well as ensuring timely deliveries for digital signs and Student Media print editions.
Responsibilities
Digital Sign Maintenance:
Maintain all University Broadcast Network-supported digital signs (outdoor and indoor), including basic troubleshooting, cleaning, and monitoring.
Keep a current inventory of digital signs, equipment, tools, and cleaning supplies.
Collaborate with leadership to recommend repairs, replacements, or expansions of the equipment inventory.
Serve as a backup to the fulfillment team by providing images of live ads for client reporting.
Deliveries:
Coordinate with the Digital Sign team to ensure timely equipment deliveries and correct processing of returns.
Assist the Student Media team with deliveries of the Utah Daily Chronicle, Wasatch Magazine, and other print materials across campus.
Print deliveries (newspapers and magazines) arrive on Sunday afternoons and need to be placed on racks by end of day Monday, monthly.
Maintain and repair print racks as needed.
Track and record pick-up rates for newspapers and magazines.
Work with student leadership on suggestions or improvements for distribution methods.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with on-campus events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current University of Utah student.
A valid driver’s license is required to operate fleet vehicles and golf carts.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with clear direction.
Must be able to lift heavy items (e.g., screens, tools, newspaper bundles, event materials).
Capable of working in all weather conditions.
Punctual, efficient, self-motivated, with strong communication skills.
Must have a flexible schedule for sign emergencies and deliveries, including evenings and weekends.
Preferences
Experience with Digital Systems: Prior experience with digital signage, AV equipment, or other technical systems is preferred but not necessary, as we will teach you.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues independently and propose/communicate effective solutions.
Familiarity with Campus: Knowledge of the University of Utah campus layout to facilitate efficient deliveries and sign maintenance.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on maintaining cleanliness and accuracy in inventory, deliveries, and reporting.
